Who is this qualification for?

The Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is aimed toward candidates achieving a formal qualification that reflects their knowledge, understanding and competence of working as a health
and safety practitioner. The programme has a broad in focus and provides scope for individuals in a position of responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of a team or organisation in a variety of sectors. This method of learning is ideally suited for those looking to balance technical studies with an existing role.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, a VIS representative will conduct an initial assessment with reference to skills and knowledge to identify any gaps which will also help plan a tailored process of learning. However, competence-based qualifications are not training courses, in contrast they provide recognition of skills and experience that have been developed within industry. Each candidate is required to produce an online portfolio of evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the units detailed below:

How long does it take to achieve the qualification?

The NVQ takes approximately 6 months to 18 months to complete, however, this is a completely learner driven course. This means that it is completely down to the learner and depends how much work they submit as to when they will complete the qualification.
