Who is this Qualification for?
The Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Management and Leadership is suitable across all occupations and sectors of employment and is aimed at individuals who have the ability and the opportunity to demonstrate recognisable
management skills. For example, managing business processes, leading, planning and implementing change, managing finance and providing learning opportunities. Individuals may find that the focus of their work is more to do with managing projects, or with technical matters, than with people. However, competence-based qualifications are not training courses, in contrast they provide recognition of skills and experience that have been developed within industry.
There are no formal requirements, however candidates need to be experienced practicing middle managers who can demonstrate both theoretical and practical competence in the workplace to a national standard in key areas. Centres should carry out an initial assessment of candidate skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the
assessment. Each candidate is required to produce an online portfolio of evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the units detailed below. The qualification requires the achievement of 53 credits from a combination of mandatory and optional units.
